Gaspen Builders & Carpenters is a third-generation family building company established in 1977, with roots stretching back over 50 years. Founder George Spencer was joined in the 1960s by Tony Spencer, who acquired his building licence in 1977. Shaun Spencer, the third-generation owner, began his carpentry journey in 1986 and took over the business in 2010. Gaspen Pty Ltd became established in North Queensland in 1996. Its main services include home extensions, renovations, Queenslander and cottage restorations, house raising, decks, carports, and patios.

Bathroom, kitchen, deck and carport projects form the backbone of the work described by customers of Gaspen Builders & Carpenters, alongside renovation and construction jobs across Townsville. Reviewers repeatedly highlight the standard of workmanship and the care taken with detail, noting that the team clearly takes pride in what it delivers. A number of customers describe the quoting process as dependable and honest, with cost-saving alternatives offered when the scope allowed. Communication comes up as a consistent strength, with clients kept informed from the start of a job through to its completion, and promises followed through as described.

The friendliness of the team, particularly Shawn and Tony, is mentioned often, with one retired customer noting that the working relationship was genuinely enjoyable. Expert guidance on building regulations and practical advice along the way are also valued. Renovations of older properties and garage conversions feature in the accounts, with results reported as exceeding expectations. Reliability, punctuality and a helpful attitude also run through the feedback, which centres on carpentry and building work handled with professionalism and attention to detail.
