To try and save money on our kitchen renovation, when builders' quotes were outside our budget, we thought about going the Ikea route with custom door panels. During our research, we discovered eKitchens and learned that it was possible to have the entire kitchen — including cabinet carcasses — made to measure for an even lower cost. To plan the project, we booked in with Kayla, who was amazing to work with. Thanks to all her brilliant suggestions on how to best utilise the space we had, we ended up with a kitchen far superior to what we'd originally imagined. We took our time with the project and did the work in stages, and Kayla was there to guide us throughout the whole process. One word of warning before you embark on putting a kitchen together yourself: you'll need intermediate to advanced DIY skills. The supplied cabinets and hardware are top quality and easy to put together, but a beginner renovator may be tripped up by the quirks of an older house — think uneven walls, scribing panels, and the like. If you get this part right, you'll end up with a quality finish that wows.
