JAKL Timber Design

JAKL Timber Design is a family business whose name stands for Jules, Andrew, Kaiden and Luke. Andrew Doust is a qualified furniture maker and cabinetmaker with over 20 years of experience building timber furniture.

He trained as a cabinetmaker and spent 16 years in Sydney building furniture before moving to Bonville in 2021. JAKL Timber Design operates as a one-person workshop and holds $10M public liability insurance. The business makes custom hardwood furniture and joinery. Its primary service area covers Coffs Harbour, Sawtell, Woolgoolga, Bellingen, Urunga, Nambucca Heads and Grafton.

A commission for a bespoke side table, recreated from a photograph taken during European travels, stands out among the experiences described by those who have engaged this Coffs Harbour cabinet maker. The client reports that Andrew reproduced the design faithfully, complete with a glass top and a concealed drawer, and that the finished piece is admired daily in the living room. Diners who ordered tables speak of workmanship and the individuality of each item, noting that their table suited the home perfectly.

Several reviewers describe Andrew as professional to deal with, easy to work alongside and exacting in his attention to detail, with the distinctiveness of the designs a recurring point of praise. The standard of the woodwork and the finish of the furniture come up repeatedly, and clients remark on how closely the result matched what they had envisaged. Projects have ranged from a single statement table to a full dining setting, and the same thread runs through the feedback: careful execution, a straightforward craftsman and furniture that fulfils the brief.
