Stepahead Carpentry was established in 1999 by Kevin Willetts, a qualified carpenter and builder in New South Wales. In 2003, Kevin moved the business to Queensland with business partner Adam. The current directors are Kevin, Josh and Ben. Stepahead employs a team of 25. Its primary location, including its own timber yard, timber factory, steel workshop, office and showroom, is on the Southside of Brisbane in Slacks Creek, with an additional office and workshop on the Northside of Brisbane. Stepahead works from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland to Northern NSW. Its work includes a 7-year structural guarantee.

Stepahead specialises in custom design staircases and provides a complete range of timber, steel, stainless steel, aluminium, wrought iron and glass balustrading from traditional to modern to suit commercial, domestic and industrial projects. Stepahead is a member of Network Builders Pty Ltd and the Housing Industry Association (HIA). It won the HIA Carpentry and Construction award in 2019. Stepahead's apprentices have been nominated for HIA awards and become successful builders. It holds HIA and BSA licences. Services include custom design staircases, balustrading, privacy screens, pool fencing, and additional timber and metal product supply and installation.
