Decks & pergolas · Brisbane

How much does Decks & pergolas cost in Brisbane? (2026 price guide)

A basic timber deck typically costs $250-$450 per square metre installed, meaning a modest 20 square metre deck often lands around $6,000-$12,000, while a pergola or covered outdoor structure usually runs $4,000-$15,000 depending on size and roofing. Composite decking generally costs 20-30% more than treated pine but needs less ongoing maintenance.

The main cost drivers are decking material (treated pine, hardwood, composite or aluminium), height above ground and any required handrails or steps, roofing type on a pergola, and whether council approval is needed for the size or height.

Check whether a building permit is required before work starts, as decks over a certain height or size usually need council or private certifier sign-off, and factor this into your budget and timeline.
